Jonny DE BRUYNE Sodhi Named Curzon Ashton U21s Captain
I can still remember the phone call from Jonny’s dad asking if I would come and watch him play, as every team he played against, the opposing manager asked him why Jonny wasn’t in a professional academy. After watching Jonny the following Sunday, I could clearly see why this tiny diamond was being overlooked and arranged to visit him and his dad at home asap, where I told Jonny that he was blessed with talent and that it was not how big he was that mattered, but HOW BIG HE THOUGHT HE WAS from now on, and that all he had to do was join Galacticos and follow my simple formula for success.
Again, I can still remember his first training session with other players from U14 - U18, which he glided through, unphased, expressing and totally enjoying himself. His journey from that day has seen him complete a youth scholarship at Welsh Premier League giants Connah’s Quay Nomads, reject a 1st year professional contract with National League North King’s Lynn, enrol on an undergraduate degree at Manchester Metropolitan University and complete a season in non league at Step 4 with 1874 Northwich FC.
This season his hard work has seen him sign for National League North Curzon Ashton FC’s U21s and he has made a huge impact, scoring great goals and getting many assists. He has already caught the eye of 1st Team Manager Craig Mahon and been invited to train. His performances have been rewarded with the captaincy and his manager Nathon Harrop, has high hopes that he will break into the 1st Team squad by the end of the season. There are exciting times ahead for this NOT SO LITTLE ANYMORE diamond - so watch this space!
